Sharing resources

After production, genotypic and phenotypic characterisations, our viruses are made available to the scientific community. It contributes to knowledge in virology and offers a valuable resource for the development of viral infection diagnostics and antiviral therapies.

Building detection kits

We also develop and make available diagnostic and molecular detection assays for viral pathogens, in particular using P&P (ready-to-use lyophilised Primers and Probes) and ArRNA (synthetic encapsidated RNA for control) technologies.

Making derived material

The EVAM platform produces associated biological material (antibodies, antigens, viral DNA and RNA, reference materials) for complementary research studies.

About Us

EVAM (European Virus Archive - Marseille)

EVAM is a platform of the Unité des virus Emergents
Aix Marseille University - IRD_190 - Inserm_1207

We collect, produce and characterise viruses of interest in human and veterinary health.

We develop diagnostic and molecular detection assays for viral pathogens.

The EVAM platform also produces biological material (antibodies, antigens, viral DNA and RNA, reference materials) for complementary research studies.

Our Facilities:

  • Cleanroom for diagnostic assays components :
    Freeze-driers for non infectious material
  • BSL2 - BSL3/3+ facilities
  • Viral collection
  • Freeze-drier for infectious material
  • Biological resources centre
  • Protein expression facilities
  • Molecular biology platform
(Qflex QS12, Biorad CFX, Digital PCR, Genexpert, Panther Fusion)

EVAM is involved in E.U. projects:
